H.E. Bailey Turnpike Spur
The H.E. Bailey Turnpike Spur project for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) from mile post 99.0 to 107.0 in Grady and McClain Counties consisted of a preliminary engineering report and development of construction plans for the rehabilitation of the Spur, including milling and overlay of the existing driving lanes and shoulders along with high-tension cable barrier construction in the center median.
The engineering report evaluated the existing conditions of the facility, including pavement condition, typical section dimensions, and existing geometric layout that would guide the appropriate recommendations for high-tension cable barrier placement. As part of the study, a matrix was produced identifying several potential pavement options for the spur including the use of traditional Superpave Type S4, Ultra-Thin Bonded Wearing Course, Stone Matrix and Permeable Friction Course asphalt pavements in order to provide OTA with options to consider when evaluating their budget and corresponding maintenace operations.
OTA successfully awarded the project for approximately $6.5M.
