Hogback Road Interchange

The Hogback Road interchange project for The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) consisted of engineering services to complete the diamond interchange by constructing the eastbound on and westbound off ramps along with a new bridge. The existing bridge over the turnpike had been struck by vehicles due to its lack of minimum vertical clearance.

The scope of work included a preliminary design report with conceptual plans for alternates for the Turner Turnpike and Hogback Road Interchange. Due to existing conditions of Hogback Road, it was necessary to analyze five alternates in total that provided a concept for a Hogback Road design that would satisfy a higher design speed. All five interchange alternates include improvements necessary to accommodate the 2040 forecasted traffic and provide bridge design options that could be used to accommodate both existing and future turnpike lane configurations.

The final construction plans included roadway design for the Turner Turnpike inside median and shoulders, Hogback Road, and eastbound-on and westbound-off ramps, with traffic signing, striping and lighting.

The project was successfully awarded for approximately $10.9M.
